Lesson 4

Page history last edited by Anonymous 1 yr ago

Welcome to lesson 4. If you are reading this, you have passed the first test. If you have not, go back and do so. Now then, this lesson is dedicated to numbers. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to count from zero to 999,999,999. (I kid you not) (By the way, 999,999,999 is nauken naudek nauduznilo, nauken naudek naunilo, nauken naudek nau.) The other goal of this lesson is to enable you to rudimentary mathematics, such as addition and subtraction. If you do not understand these principles in English, it is very unlikely that you will get them in Dudíli. So, let’s begin!

Part 1: 0-100

0: othala

1: un

2: du

3: tari

4: kar

5: kin

6: zez

7: zed

8: ok

9: nau (you already know this one!)

10: dek

Believe it or not, this is all that you need to count up to 99. To go over 10, you just do “ten and ?”. In other words, eleven would be “ten and one” or dek un. For twenty, you just say dudek (two+ten). Therefore, 27 would be dudek zed. So, let’s test your knowledge!

How do you say thirty-seven?

How do you say fifty-two?

How do you say ninety-six?

The answers are as follows. Taridek zed, kindek du, and naudek zez. Now, we move on to three new words. These are the words for hundred, thousand, and million.

Part 2: 100-999,999,999

hundred: ken

thousand: nilo

million: duznilo

These three words follow the same rules as “dek”, so three hundred would be “tariken” and fourty-six thousand would be “kardek zeznilo”.

Part 3: extras

Before we go to exercises, here are a few words you might need to know.

plus: laguz

minus: ingaz

number: zefenalo

Therefore, if you wanted to say “three plus four equals seven”, you would say “tari laguz kar zed foli.”

Part 4: Exercises

A) Zefenalox

Name these numbers!

1) ken dudek un

2) kardek kin

3) karnilo karken kardek kar

B) Math (Dotas)

Solve these math problems in complete sentences. i.e. Q: What is four plus one? A: Four plus one is five.

6) Cé ken ingaz naudek foli?

7) Cé kar laguz zez foli?

8) Cé un laguz tari ingaz du foli?

9) Cé kindek kin laguz kindek zez foli?

C) Translation

Translate these sentences/phrases

10) Kar ingaz du du foli.

11) Kindek kar zefenalo foli.

12) zed fenejax.

13) dek nau zefenalo foli.
